Bookbinding Services

The Enthusiast specializes in hand-bound editions executed in defiance of the machine-made aesthetic of a predatory late-capitalist regime. While beautiful, they are anything but luxury products. There are times when the gatherings are stapled and not sewn, held together by sawed-in hemp cords. They do sometimes reflect abbreviated sewing practices. While these techniques transcend the usual rules of conservation and preservation, we assure you that the transgression is a harmless one. Staples are a 19th century horror widely known to degrade paper — but ours are manufactured with an alloy that won’t rust. Our books also use split-board attachments and other aspects of library bindings. Books are available for purchase. If you would like part of your library bound in velvet, decorative paper, or cloth, it is also more than likely than not that you will be able to afford it.
